We are saying goodbye to our founding editor-in-Chief, Joel Beckon. I have known Joel for some time, and by suggestion of our board, I contacted him the day I heard he was retiring from his last editor gig. Joel is a talented editor, but perhaps his greatest strength is his ability to place things into perspective. He has a special kind of wisdom, and I knew that wisdom would be needed if we were to successfully tackle a subject like AI in education. AI is a gamechanger, a technology that even in its infancy has the ability to revolutionize learning. And while many on the team were 90 parts enthusiasm, 10 parts wisdom, the board believed Joel had the ability to place this technology in the proper context, preserving the amazing strength and wisdom of the educator while understanding the needs of the future learner.

Joel listened to our pitch and agreed to take on the challenge with one understanding. He would give us a year to set this in motion for posterity and then ride off into the sunset and enjoy his retirement. And now that year has ended; personally, I could not be more proud of the job that Joel has done, and I am amazed at the quality of the publication. In a nutshell, Joel Beckon nailed it. And his successor will have some mighty big shoes to fill.

There are maybe a handful of people on the planet who have the necessary skills, ability and wisdom to fill those size 12 brogans of Joel’s and bring this incredible Educate AI platform forward. And at the very top of the list is Robyn Shulman. At 5 foot nothing and 98 pounds dripping wet, Robyn may look a bit funny at first wearing those size 12s. But she is eminently qualified to do so.

Robyn is an education lifer and former Forbes columnist and LinkedIn’s top education influencer. She has an amazing background in both education and media. And by every measure, is one smart cookie. I think you will enjoy her work going forward, and I hope you will continue to support us with your attention and consideration. Together, I believe we can make a difference.

Now, let’s get to work, shall we?
